Why the Church?

Why the church? What is the church? How does the church function? The church, for some, has become another choice for consumers, and we evaluate churches based on google reviews and online content without stepping into the room: Which church, which denomination, what style of worship, what’s the children’s ministry like, is the pastor funny, deeply theological, are they on social media? Can I watch from home in my pajamas, how many times will the pastor say the word money, or the dreaded five letter word, “tithe”? Will I get one hour or two hours away from my preschooler? How long before they ask me to become a member or volunteer? Will the pastor look at me when he preaches? These are many of the questions that people are asking regarding church. Over the next few months, we will step into these as we unpack the biblical purpose and importance of the church. The world has strong opinions of the church, and in many circles, it’s hatred of the church. In addition to this, the church is also marginalized in our society. It is viewed by some as archaic. We want you to know what to expect from this body of believers that make up Rich Fork Baptist Church. We want you to know the traits that the Bible says make up the church. We want you to be able to answer “why church” in your own hearts, but also when you engage with others in the community that you do life in. Join us as we dive into God’s word together to discover the meaning, purpose, reason, truths, and “the why” of church.
