Since God is FOR Us; We Must Be FOR Others!

As we dive into Jeremiah 29, we find Judah heading into exile and captivity in Babylon. This is ultimately a judgment that God has allowed to fall on them due to their own idolatry, false worship, and refusal to follow Him. Even though, imagine how difficult it would be to be taken away from the home you love, placed in a new country, speaking a new language, surrounded by false worship of false Gods, and you don’t know anything about the culture; the government is evil and against your people and only wants to take advantage of you and the other people from your heritage. This is where Judah finds themselves in chapter 29. God has a message for them from the prophet Jeremiah and ultimately it is a message to repent and return to Him. Within this message of repentance, there is also another message on how to live life during this time of exile. Simply put, continue to live life and do so for the Lord. Build homes, plant gardens, marry, do life in this place/time, and while doing so, seek the welfare of the city in which He has placed you into exile; pray to the Lord on its behalf.
